Video: Sumo Bot Competition #1

Alex and I each made a Sumo robot for the Techno Chaos Robot Rumble on Saturday night. We put our robots up against two other bots and did fairly well considering it was our first time. Alex and I had lots of fun. Alex even modified his robot at Techno Chaos with a touch sensor on the back that would back up if pressed (look for this feature on the video).

Alex (r) and one of his friends, Joey, playing with Scratch. The Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab developed the Scratch programming language so kids had an easy and engaging way to program a computer. Mitchel Resnick and his co-authors write that programming, especially in an environment like Scratch, can aid the development of several valuable skills such as computational thinking, problem-solving, design strategies, and creative expression, and that those skills will "carry over to noprogramming domains."
